Let us discuss the two types of cardio workouts before you can decide which one would be beneficial for you. The two types of cardio workouts are; the low intensity cardio workout and the high intensity cardio workout. Low intensity cardio workout includes walking, aerobics or using a treadmill on a low intensity setting etc. Generally it takes 5 to 10 minutes to reach the optimal heart rate and, one needs to maintain that level for at least 30 minutes.  Using cardio equipment with the heart rate display can help you monitor your heart rate and allows you to reach the ideal intensity level. This workout is quite popular among people since it is easier than the high intensity cardio workout. A lot of studies have proved that this intensity level helps a lot in fat loss.

 

High intensity cardio workout is less popular cardio workout since it calls for a lot of hard work. A number of fitness experts believe that 10-20 minutes of high intensity workout done 3 to 4 times a week can be extremely effective in fat loss. It is believed that it can burn fat 9 times faster than the low intensity cardio exercise. This is due to the fact that the high intensity cardio workout helps in releasing hormones that continue to burn fats even after hours of actual workout. A few short and frequent sprints incorporated in jogging routine can help a great deal. Cardio equipment with the heart rate display is almost mandatory for this kind of workout.

 

The low intensity workout is productive once you reach the optimal heart level and thus the first 10 minutes that the body takes to reach that level is almost unproductive. On the other hand people find it difficult to perform high intensity workout. Thus, a number of experts recommend that both types of cardio workout can be performed in the same session to get the maximum benefit. Cardio workout can be started with the high intensity workout for first 10 minutes followed by the low intensity workout for the next 20 to 30 minutes. This can help a great deal in fat loss.
